What the Oral Microbiome test is for
The Oral Microbiome is a convenient at-home saliva test analysed with shotgun metagenomic sequencing in an ISO 17025-accredited London laboratory.
Your interactive report shows an overall score, what shaped that score, and separate risk levels for gum disease, cavities, bad breath and inflammation. It names bacteria linked with those risks and bacteria associated with a healthier mouth. It also looks at what those communities can do, including breaking down sugar, producing acid, and pathways linked with inflammation and circulation.
It does not diagnose tooth decay, gum disease, bad breath or any other condition. A higher cavity risk means your microbes and the symptoms you reported are consistent with a higher chance of decay.
