What Is The Mycoplasma Genitalium Test For?
Mycoplasma genitalium (MG) typically invades the cells lining the genital and urinary tracts in men and women and can also be found in the rectum and lungs.
In men typical symptoms include a watery discharge from the penis or a burning, stinging sensation when you urinate.
For women, symptoms ususually include vaginal discharge or pain and beleeding during or after sex.
Note that Mycoplasma genitalium doesn’t always cause symptoms, and as many as 1 in 100 people may be infected with it. So it is important to check if you are at risk.
