What Is The Fibrinogen Test For?
Fibrinogen is a crucial protein involved in blood coagulation (clotting). Disorders of fibrinogen may be related to pathologies that cause a high fibrinogen level or a low fibrinogen level. Fibrinogen levels are usually tested alongside a coagulation profile which includes a prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time. Together, this provides a bigger picture of blood clotting.
